The Cochrane Collaboration is an international, independent, not-for-profit organisation, funded by a variety of sources including governments, universities, hospital trusts, charities and personal donations. Learn more about the Collaboration here.
Cochrane's vision is that making decisions in healthcare should be informed by high-quality, timely research evidence. Each Cochrane systematic review addresses a specific question and a team of dedicated researchers then find and review the relevant clinical studies, in a systematic and unbiased way, and translate the results into information we can use. Sometimes reviews provide good evidence that a treatment does or does not work, or perhaps that it has side-effects. Sometimes the review finds that there is not enough high-quality evidence to answer the question, but it’s important to know what we don’t know!
